Top leadership trait · Chapter 2 Determination

Chapter 3 · Leadership style

How I lead — directive

I lead directively. If I know what needs to happen, I make the call and the team moves. I ask for input when I genuinely do not have the picture yet, and that is the signal to everyone that the question is open. The tradeoff I am aware of is that a directive style only works when I have actually done the work to earn the call.

Chapter 4 · Orientation

Task and relationship

My instinct is task behavior — structure, deadlines, a shared spreadsheet where everyone can see what is done. Relationship behavior is the side I am deliberately building, and it is the reason I took the Analysis Lead role on a five-person valuation team rather than a solo section.

Chapter 6 · Personal strengths

Where I am strongest

01 Learner I taught myself Python and the quantitative side of finance well enough to build a backtesting engine that evaluated more than 2,700 systematic strategies.
02 Achiever I run Bubba’s Fireworks as owner and operator through a seasonal cycle where the entire year’s revenue lands in about two weeks.
03 Analytical My default move on any claim is to go find the number behind it, whether that is a valuation assumption or a strategy someone swears works.

Chapter 7 · Vision

Where I am going

To work where investment analysis meets applied engineering, building the models that make capital decisions faster and better evidenced.
